Why do I need to use an air pump when doing static electricity experiments w/ a balloon? Why not use my mouth?

Humidity inhibits static electricity. You need dry conditions to hold a static charge.

Have you ever noticed that you get doorknob shocks on dry days, but not on rainy ones?
