im supposed to show my class how to do something tomorow and i cant find any ideas. i really want to do an electricity expirement
its got to be done inside and it must not be to hard to do
thanks
Induction is good. All you need is a magnet, a coil and a volt or amp-meter.
How about RC-circuits? Needs a battery, a switch, a few resistors, capacitors and a voltmeter.
Electromagnets?
Solar cells are fun. Can be done with a light.
Electrolysis needs little more than a battery, water, salt and some wires.
Lemon battery works just as well.
How about building a foil electroscope?
There is endless "fun" if you have a Van-de-Graaff generator.
Do you have a power meter? How about screwing in a compact fluorescent? Teach the kids about electricity use in the household and conservation?
Just a few ideas.
Building a "Foxhole Radio" is always a head-turner. No batteries or chance of electrocution. Web search will turn up tons of pictures and instructions.
This is more of an electromagnetism experiment though.
Good Luck
I will never forget our HS shop teacher got 2 forks and stuck each one into each end of a hot dog. Then with a line cord with aligator clips on hot and neutral, clipped one onto each fork then plugged into 120vac socket. After a few minutes hotdogs began to sweat
then he unplugged, cut them up and served them round the room.
What did this prove? That everything conducts to some degree.....
