Help with science experiment involving electricity?

This is for a 7th grade science class experiment. (The following is written by the 7th grader.)

The experiment that I came up with was to use an electrical source, such as a battery, and put that electricity through the test liquids. Then I could measure the resistance with an ohmmeter and determine how well those liquids conduct the electricity from the battery with the resistance.

My question is, would this be a good experiment? And if not, what would be a better one?

It would be a good one. Be sure to include distilled water as one of your liquids. It does not conduct electricity very well, which surprises many people.

Yes for you grade but to go above what any one could ever expect by

looking up some Famous scientist (Sir Issac Howard Newton) and try and replicate his answer. This is not plagerism like many people will say it is only plagerism if you take his results.not only will it help you learn a lot about science it will get you a garenteed A+.

Try one of my experiments about boats will pollution effect the way a boat floats?

Fill you bath tub up with salt water an put a cup that will float in the water.

take pennies and start filling in the cup then when it sinks record your result

Then fill your bath with "garbage" (I used banana peels, greese beer and ONLY with an adault there gasoline) then fill the same cup with pennies and record your result. you should do this both ways 3-4 times

and see what you get

Learn a little more about ohm's law to see where you might go wrong with what you are trying to do.

The rule you are breaking is measuring ohms while current is flowing in the circuit. Most times, you'll burn up the ohm meter in a live circuit.

A better experiment would be to calculate the resistance based on the voltage (12 volts) and the current in a flowing through the water resistance.

Then add salt to lower the resistance of the water and calculate the resistance of salt water.
